Our Cottage..

Well it's been a busy year so far at the cottage we bought last summer. We started out by painting the old metal shed that was on our second lot. It was in rough shape..painted it green and white. Last fall we removed all the old, rotten shelves that were around it that the previous owner used for all the crafts he did..makes the yard look so much better! So our next project was replacing the front deck..it was in real rough shape also! We used pressure treated boards and it looks awesome! Then it was the privacy wall around the bathroom. It was pretty rotten so we started by replacing some of the rotten frame boards. We redid the entire wall itself with pressure treated fence boards. The wooden latice arcross the top was ripped off and replaced with plastic latice..man what a difference..it looks great! We then painted the frame of the wall white as well as scraped the old paint off the bathroom and painted it white as well..We then moved to the back deck..my father in law was nice enough to replace some rotten boards on the railing and floor for us. First we stained the railing and then 2 coats on the floor..It's amazing how something looks so good with a fresh coat of stain on it! We also restained the back window frames and repainted the shutters and trim across the bottom of the back of the house. Now off to the other side of the house..a few years back my father in law made an awning for the windows on the south side of the house. I scraped it down and repainted it white..as well as some trim boards accross the south side of the house under the eaves. We have a little stoop across the front of the house that I repainted and Shirley hung her string of fish lights her sister gave her for her birthday..looks real nice! We do have some more to stain yet..shutters on front and side of house..but otherwise..a lot more relaxing has been done the last little while! Who would have thought that all this work would actually be fun..go figure..lol..We have three weeks off in August. We plan on doing a few more things..but mostly relaxing and golfing!
