Happy New Year 2014

Well, Christmas has come and gone, and we are into a new year already. Man time flies! I will be in my 35th year with the government this year, and Shirley isn't too far behind. Kitchen was completed this past fall, and it looks amazing!! Courtney and Mike moved into their new home in grand Coulee this past Monday. Very nice place. We helped them move in, along with Jim and Marie. Shirley and her mom washed her cupboards, both inside and out, as well. It's been a very cold winter this year so far. Last year we had more snow than I knew what to do with, but not this year, which is nice. Work is super busy for me. The days just fly by! Should be another fun year at the lake. Shirley and I sure enjoy putting around out there, and enjoying the nice warm days, which can't come soon enough :)

Summer 2013

Kitchen is coming along nicely. Electrical and plumbing are complete.Cupboards are in, along with pantry, and crown moldings. The led lights are installed under the cupboards, and the new light and fan are installed on the ceiling. Granite countertops took 3 weeks to come, but worth the wait, as they are really nice. Backsplash was installed last Monday, and Tuesday they came back to grout. It looks amazing, as it ties everything together really well. We are on holidays for the next two weeks, so one of the things we really have to get at is the painting of the kitchen. Flooring will be installed on the 26th of August, followed by the installation of the dishwasher, and finally the kick plates around the bottoms of the cupboards. It's been a long process, but as it comes together, we are really happy with how it looks.

New Kitchen

Shirley and I have decided to redo our kitchen. We are going with Supreme kitchens. The cupboards are ordered and should arrive in 4 to 6 weeks. We are heading over To Wolseley today to pick up our faucet and sink, than over to Tubella, where Shirley will have to make the final decision between one of the two granite countertops we have narrowed it down too. They also require the template for the sink for when they make the countertop. We finished getting the wallpaper border down in the kitchen. Next is the wallpaper and row of backsplash around the cupboard. Will start packing up the cupboards we don't need, or use, very soon as well. It's going to be a long, messy process, but the end result will sure be nice :)

Our Trip to Panama.

We went to Panama from January 16th to January 30th. We stayed at the Royal Decameron Resort. We had the most amazing time. The weather was awesome, and the resort was really nice. Went on a few tours, got in a round of golf, but spent most of our time around one of the many nice pools, or relaxing by the ocean. It was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had. Unfortunatly, back to work, which really sucks I must admit. I think its time to retire..lol

Another summer has come and gone...

So summer has gone and fall is here..unfortunatly..The cottage is closed up for another year. My father in law and I reshingled the cottage roof and removed the rotten back deck and replaced it with decrative patio blocks. Looks awesome! Other than these two projects we had a great summer relaxing and just bummin around the cottage. Chris and Ty are both back in school. Chris is doing well at the U of R, and Ty seems to be doing very well in his office education course at SIAST. Hopefully he will find some work over the summer next year and save some money, as he still wants to go to SIAST in Moose Jaw to take some form of a environmental technology course, particularily pertaining to water management. Chris will go back to Sask Power next spring to earn some more cash, and then back to U of R the following fall. We have quite a few gifts bought for christmas already. Always nice to get a head start.

Time for another update on the summer so far. We had two weeks off in the middle of June this year so far. Spent pretty much the entire time at the cottage. We re shingled the cottage. It was really old and starting to leak so it was way past time. I then Re stained our deck on the front and it turned out great. Used same type of stain, but a different colour, cedar I believe it was. Then we started on the huge project. We ripped off the deck on the back and hauled the old wood to the dump. Ran into town and brought back decorative patio blocks. We then levelled the area and laid them down. It looks awesome I must say! Doing some finishing touches now putting large rocks and red lava rock around the outside edges of the patio and along the house. I will post a picture once it's complete. We are so happy with the way it turned out. Looks great and no more staining or replacing rotten boards! Have another week off coming up in July, then not off again till end of August, beginning of September for three weeks this time! Tyler is taking Grade twelve chemistry in summer school for the month of July. He is registered in office education at SIAST for this fall. It is a 32 week course so that will keep him busy for a while. Once that is done hopefully he can pick up some office work of some sort in Govt. He hopes to take grade twelve physics at some point too. Chris is Done at Sask Power till next spring. His contract is up and he is starting at the U of R in the Fall, Bachelor of Arts program,International Languages I believe its called. Shirley and I are super busy at work. Between work, home, and the cottage, the days and weeks are flying by!

Fall is here..

Another summer has come and gone. Very sad to think winter is on its way. September and the early part of October have been very nice so lets hope it continues. The fellas from Glacier glass have been here the last couple of days installing our new windows. Man are they ever nice! It is long overdue. They are working on our bedroom window now and then they are done installing them all. The trim will be last on the inside. Jim is coming by tomorrow to help me lay the new lino in the bathroom and install a new toilet. We painted the walls in the bathroom last week. Once Jim and I are done I can call bath fitters to come out and install our new tub surround and Taps. Its been pretty hectic but its coming along nicely. We are winding down our cottage time as well. Very sad to think it is coming to an end. Spring will be here again before you know it so that is something to look forward too! Chris is working still at Sask Power. He bought himself a 91 Nissan 300zx. It is Black and a standard so he is learning really quick to drive it. It is a super sharp car I must admit. Lots of fun to drive, and with a 3 liter V6 with twin turbos it really goes too! Ty is into his final math C30 at Balfour night school. Finds it very hard so hopefully he can get through it and then its off to SIAST to take whatever he has decided. He is really leaning towards water management technology so we will see come next fall! Well I gotta run...later :)
